Default k&n adaptor plate

why buy the pro design adaptor plate when you can just buy a cheaper k&n and install a small screw to hold it in position when running without the lid? (like gregv did in his photos)

Because doing it like that you put a high risk of getting crap in your engine, it's not sealed well enough and the screw could come out. Also with the kit you get a lot bigger filter for more intake.

i see, thanks for the replies. Is there a performance difference, would I have to go up a jet with the pro design versus the regular k&n?

That mostly depends on if the lid is off or not. If off then yes for both.
