good luck

I still say stay AWAY from a cheap one if you want to know the TRUE compression reading.
You have no idea what the TRUE compression is if you get a cheap one.

A cheap one should only be used for comparing the compression on YOUR motor when fresh and on YOUR motor after you have ring wear.

I suppose you could check a friends compression and then check yours with the same gauge, but if he doesn't have the exact same compression/compression ratio as you do, you are just pi$$ing in the wind!

When ya check the compression and turn the motor over with the starter make sure you attach a battery charger to the battery so the starter works well enogh to generate enough RPMs to get past the compression release.

thanks for the input guys. I have done compression tests and leakdowns before. I am going to get a good Snap-On guage and coast down my steet to see what the compression is. Just have to remember to put a plug in my pocket so I can ride back up the hill.
