Default Wolverine Shifting problems (shifting rough)

Hey, My wolverine has never been a real smoothe shifter. That never bothered me. Now it seems to be shifting really rough and more of a pain in the a$$ than usual. Also sometime when you are shifing up while ripping along it gets stuck between gears in a nutral type position but but not. First of all, I am using regular motor oil not yamalube though. What needs to be replaced, etc to fix up my shifting here? also out of churiosity how hard would it be to go fully manual?

Thanks

Have you noticed any metallic noises on the right side of the case? or felt a little notchiness when trying to engage the shifter? There is a possibility the centrifical clutch pack may have broken a spring or two, making it stay partly in gear, which would make it hard to shift. Mine broke the first year I had it, while I was riding, started rattling a lot, real hard to shift, and found broken springs had gotten jammed in the clutch pack and stuck it partly engaged. Listen to the right side and see, or if you have time, pull the right case cover and take a quick look.

Did it just start recently? Could be the bolt in the shift star has backed out. That happened to my banshee three years after it was built.

Does the wolverine have a shift movement adjuster?

No I havent heard any regular sounds but I will keep my eye out. The only sound I have heard is when riding hard for a long time (usually in the summer) I will be crusing in third or fourth gear near the top of my RPMs and will hear a kind of knawing sound from the tranny, sounds more like from the front gear box than engine but not sure. It is only when gassing it and goes away. It is not a regular happening it is only once in a while. That has been for at least a year or so though. My problem is like, when I back up, I go to shift into first or nutral and it gives me a hard time. I have to give it some throttle and then click up to get it to go. Has been like that for a while never thought much of it but it seems to be slowly but surely getting worse. Just shifts really rough. it is only once and a while it skips a gear, not very much. That has happened periodically for a year or so as well. Semi- Autos are really not my fav in that sense. I think they are not that reliable for time wise. I would prefer a manual or auto but in the mud a manual sucks and for the fun of it an auto can be a drag, so I am a semi auto with this beast of the East.

thanks,
