Default found my problem(timing chain broke)

evidently i didn't tighten one of the bolts on the cam sprocket.the bolt and the plate came off and got wedget between the timing cavity and the chain.they all done the bump and grind a little bit and got metal shavings all in the chain cavity.after further inspection i didn't see any shavings at the bottom of the crank case, thank god.do i need to take the oil pump off and inspect it?i couldn't find any other shavings anywhere besides the cavity.
got it tore all the way down to where i need a pulley puller and out of the frame in about an hour and a half,i knew i would be getting good at this.

Hows the cam sprocket look? So you need a chain, possible cam sprocket and new weight assembly? Did you neglect to put blue loctite on the cam sprocket nuts? At least you know whats up and can get it fixed and back to riding.

Dont feel bad, I did the same thing once but on a car.

Pulled it out of my garage after taking all weekend to do a head gasket. Got about 10 feet up the road and it shut off. Found out it sheared the placement pin off the cam so it was just spinning on the bolt. I couldnt get the hardened pin out so I spun the cam gear 180degrees and drilled a new hole for another pin. I felt like a tool but it still runs to this day. I think it has more power too since I "degreed" in the cam

That sucks! I did the same thing on mine. But, it sounds that you got away pretty cheap. I wasn't so lucky, I had to have new cam, piston, head, haed cover, timing chain and sprocket.Learned a hard lesson on hopping up raptors.

How does the lower cam chain gear look? With the chain crumpled up down there you'd think it would'nt fare to well.
