Air- 60foot times in the 1.9 to 2.0 will not be hard. I was launching easy at the track last time. There was not enough time to fix the tranny before FSW's if i broke it. lol Got to FSW's and boom it was gone. (tranny) I am headed to the track before the end of march. I plan on getting well over 80mph in the 1/8. I am going to a 15 front and 18inch tires in the back and actually lauching it hard this time

14, I'm not trying to start anything here, but I'm curious about something. How is it that my 60' times are 2/10 quicker than yours, and I'm 3 MPH faster at the eigth, but our times for the 1/8 are the same?

I'm geared to run the 1/4 [as best as I can], so I know I could do much quicker in the 1/8 if I ran that specificly, but I don't see were you could be catching up. If my start is quicker and my finish is faster, were is it that you come back? Are you wound out in top gear at the end of the 1/8, costing you MPH?

I'm running 1.9's in the 60', and 8.5's at 80 MPH in the 1/8.

For the record, I'm only doing 13.5's at 96MPH in the 1/4, but I'm running out of gearing long befor the traps.

These times are from last year and I'm expecting to be quicker this year.

Knutz- I do not know this was at redline raceway in january That run was .06243 reaction 2.0820 60 foot 5.404 330 ft and 8.514 660 ft and 77.8mph on january 5th at 4.30 pm. That day i was messing with the new cdi box and not launching hard because we were headed to Glamis 2 weeks later. I really think i have a 8.2 quad when i get it sorted out. I made 5 runs that day and my trap speeds were 76-78mph. Crafty was running the same times as me on his craycraft raptor but he was getting me out of the hole to 300 feet. His trap speeds were never over 75.??? mph.

No i am not wound out in the 1/8th. I was running 14/40 gearing and crossing the line in the top of 4th

I am going to spend the day in a few weeks at the track. I am going to have the mobile dyno at my house to get it dialed in with FCR's and my new for 2003 CDI box. I may be crazy but i think i can hit 85mph in the 1/8th. I am going to slam the front and run Hooisers in the rear. Micheal web was there that day and i think he was in the up 80's with that same time. 8.5 he was not hooking up until 300 feet. I thought the mph was the speed the last 60foot of the run and not the average?? At Cedar creek raceway 2 years ago we were running 9.5 at 72 mph?? or 9.20?? LOL

THIS PAST FALL MY FASTEST TIME WAS ONLY 8.8 AT A LITTLE 69MPH. THIS WAS MY VERY FIRST TIME OUT, IF I GET IT BACK TOGETHER ANYTIME SOON, I PLAN ON HEADING OVER NEAR DSMIKE'S NECK OF THE WOODS AND SEE BY HOW MUCH I CAN BETTER THAT TIME AND MPH. I KNOW I CAN IMPROVE IT SOMEWHAT. I BELIEVE I WAS RUNNING 15/40 GEARING WITH 20/11/9 RAZRS ON THE REAR. SPINNING SOME ON THE START. I CAN'T REMEMBER FOR SURE WHAT MY 60FT. TIMES WERE, I WILL HAVE TO TRY AND FIND A SLIP.........

Kuntz,

It just doesn't work that way, (Trying to compare times and mph). It all depends on where you are making your power. 14mins is basically right, your speed is not registered untill just before you cross the finish line at the end (The Speed Trap is 66 ft. in length). There are just too many varriables between point A and point B. It is possible for a racer to be several mph slower than the person he is racing and still run a quicker ET, or visa-versa.

Things such as:
What rpm are you shiffting at? (Running past the point where the engine is not pulling as hard.)
Where is your quads torque curve? (Your oponents quad may pull harder through the Middle of the rpm range, but be softer on the top & bottom.)
Weight? (More weight, better traction, more drag, lower speeds.)
Adjusted alltitude? (Conditions, humidity, air, Weather conditions can effectivly raise or lower the alltitude.)
Wheel spin? (Some racers need some amout of wheel spin to get them into the meat of their power band. Too much spin not good either.)
Track conditions? (Is the starting line good or bad, is it loose through the middle of the track creating excess wheel spin between shifts.)

Not trying to make anyone feel stupid, just trying to help out.

Gearing is the main reason for the speed difference with the same trap speed. Gearing must be matched too engine power and track length. If you are making X amount of peak power at 6500 rpm's...you want too cross the finish line at 6500 rpm's in your 1/1 gear. For the Raptor, 5th is overdrive (under 1/1....just like an automobile)....so one wants too cross the finish line in 4th gear since you have more power at the rear wheel due too more torque magnification.

if you guys want a real good launch at the track, get a lowering strut for the back and drop it as far as it will go.
