Default 500cc V Banshee

I was talking to a friend of mine today. He knows a guy that is a mechanic at a local Yamaha dealer. His friend told him Yamaha was coming out with a V twin 500cc 2 stroke Banshee this year. I told him why would Yamaha do that with the threat of 2 stroke bans in 2006. If this is true, my guess is Yamaha wants to put out one last hurrah with their Banshee before its to late. If it's true I bet they sell a boat load of them. If it's true I will be in line to get one.

He also said the guy told him it was going to have 130 hp out of the box. Once he said this I thought yeah, right. But I don't know enough about them to know if that would be possible.

;;;;;;If this it true;;;;;;

That would be amazing, but I doubt it. Why change such a good thing this late in the game?

Was this a dream you were having? Just sounds like some of my dreams.

I have to say that I highly doubt it, but if it were to happen I would find a way to get two of them.

It just seems like a great pipe dream or something.

i cant believe any of you are taking this serious....stock bikes are in the 35-40 horse range. And idiots are crashing them left and right complaining about broken frames and weak this and weak that. What do you think 130 horses would do to an amature? Let alone a transmission to hook this up. You think mx'ers or tt'ers can use this power? Where would the market be? there wouldnt! I dont think you guys understand how hard it is to make 130 horses. Especially out of 500cc's.

Thats exactly what I thought Beech.

I don't even think cheetah heads are getting 130 ponies. He said they were going to use a different frame etc. He said the guy had a flier or somthing about it. The difference here is a V style cylinders instead of side by side but whatever. It's just another in the long line of rumors about Yamahas up coming products release.

beech, I dont think anyone was taking it seriously, hence my phrase about it being a pipe dream. I wonder what that mechanic was smoking.

I do know how hard it is to get that kind of power. And the market would be pretty much duners only, and draggers of course. An mxer would kill them selves on that machine.

I believe it is someones fantasy and will never happen.

redskin, there are some builders getting big numbers out of the cheetahs. I believe calvin pollet has said that some builders are pushing 140hp with these.

I dont think many of the 500 setups have made it out to the general public, but they are catching on.

Well if it was true I bet it would only go 75 MPH for some reason, that seems to be maximum speed a quad is allowed to go out of the box! But a Snowmobiles MPH is unlimited. WHY?
