Default shift lever problems

Has anyone had problems with their shifter levers? we have a '94 BigBear & '97 Kodiak. The BigBear lever just broke and the Kodiak is reday to go. The levers wear on the housing and eventually break. We do plow with them and therefore may do more shifting to forward/reverse than normal. Just curious to see if it was common/

really can't believe this is unique to our 2 machines - maybe the Yamaha folks don't want the word out; anyway it is a pretty easy fix (unless you are 10 miles back in the big woods); we bought onw, welded the other
