Direct shifter??
#1
After the recent purchase of my new 2003 raptor, I just received my riding gear including boots. But here's my problem, my boots were hard to fit under the shifter so i adjusted the linkedge up and now they fit all right and I am getting use to it. But now i noticed that when shifting hard , such as drag racing, it is sometimes really hard to shift into 3rd gear. But when i am not wearing my riding boots and i drag race it will shift perfect, So i am wanting to know if i buy the IMS direct shifter off of ebay if it will fix this problem.

whitebread hit it right on the head....I had the same problem racing. Really had to put some UUMMPPHH into it to get into third. I took out the stock linkage and added a Pro Design shifter. Now it shifts so good, I have to think when shifting into second because it goes so easily, I sometimes get it in neutral. I would highly recommend getting a direct shifter.

Is it just me or is the IMS shifter too flimsy?? I bought one and put it on my raptor and didn't like it, rubbed on the case when riding hard and also seemed to make the throw from gear to gear alot longer and I missed shift alot. I put my stocker back on and got it to the point where my boots fit decent and it has been perfect. What shifters do you use?? And doesn't the throw just seem too long to you guys?

RaptorRidr660R,
I have the same problem. I put on the Roll Design Shifter and I am missing gears occasionally. I think there is just a learning curve. I am so use to the old shifter that it is taking some time to figure this one out. The Roll Design shifter is not flimsy in any way though.

Has anybody tried shifters from other rides to see if a factory direct shifter can be slightly modded to fit the Raptor. I have an old Motorcycle that I am going to get the shifter off and see if I can weld/bend/extend/cuss so that it will work.
