sprocket size>?
This may be a simple question but I all ways get a different answer ever time I ask..
The bigger the rear sprocket = ? more top speed or what?
How about the smaller the rear sprocket (less teeth)... what good does that do.
Right now I think mine is 41 teeth..Whats this for.
Is there a big difference between 40 teeth and 41 teeth because I have both laying around the garage...
thanks guys

smaller rear makes the top speed faster, the bigger it is, it has bigger acceleration. the smaller, the faster. for front, the bigger the higher top speed. and smaller, better acceleration. when you change the rear sprocket, 1 or 2 teeth doesnt make too big of a difference. but when you change the front, you notice one tooth or 2 difference a lot more. like, lets say you have a 15 up front, and 41 in rear, and it went 70. you go to a 40 in rear, it will go about 72. there is a calculator at go to blue trax. it is blue trax.com, but add another "x."

Check out the ratio chart at www.sidewindersprockets.com. -or- Simply divide the rear # of teeth by the front # of teeth to get your ratio (#rear/#front). when you change the number of teeth on the front or rear, the ratio changes. If that ratio increases - less top speed, more "grunt". if it decreases - more top speed, less "grunt".
It's all in the numbers.....
