Try a gear puller, don't know if you can get the teeth behind the gear or not.. Or just buy a new 5th gear pinion.

Buying a new pinoin would have been the best idea, but my budget was VERY limited! Anyway I got it off. Its funny I was there when the Honda guys were pressing it and heating it up, so I know they tried. I went to our press, remember this was my first time and I was scared to break something, and waaaah Lah poof it came right off. I don't know what they were doing wrong but I got it right.

Thanks alot for the help wshrdskin! I am glad it din't come down to that, but its good to know if I have to ever do it again (not mine for a buddy).

Remember Honda guys are somewhat like the Maytag repairman...don't have to work quite as hard

Just a little update, for some reason I put the old one back on the new shaft. I didn't realise I had done this until after I got everything in the cases and tried to turn them, and they wouldn't. I happened to accidently kick the box my parts came in. Low and behold there was another mysterious gear. $#$%&^*&(* So now its back to the shop to put on the new one.

Gald you caught it, I love that accidental finding stuff.. I was too busy clicking pictures for my site when assembling my motor, had the head on and motor in the frame when I accidentally discovered my new piston circlips still in there wrapper - glad I caught it..
