Default Choke Corrosion

I have an 86 YFM225 Moto-4. I have a recurring problem in that the choke valve in the carbruator developes some corrosion on it plus the choke cavity in the carburator gets corrosion in it. I have taken the carb apart and have to sand the inside of the choke cavity and also have to clean up the choke pin. After the clean up and reassembly it works fine agan for about 6 months and then starts to stick again. Anybody have this problem in the past and any ideas what could be causing this to happen?

The problem you describe is a common one with the 2001 Raptors as well. On the Raptor, the choke plunger is cable operated (from the bars) and water gets in the cable and runs down into the cavity. Then, the return spring rusts and corrodes. Yamahas solution was a little seal on the cable.

Dont know if it's the same but could be an idea !?

I thought there might be a problem with water going down the cable. I use ATV mainly in the fall of the year and it does get wet a lot. Is the cable seal available at a Yamaha dealer? I am going to oil the cable hoping to at least keep it from corroding so much.
