The wolverine?
Well ive come to this conclusion.
After having my 2000 polaris mag 325 2x4 for around 4 years, i need to upgrade. it was a great machine to start with, but i must move on.
I liked to ride it like it was a sport, jumps, wheelies(somewhat) etc, but i also worked with it. towing trailers, and pulling roots and stumps. so need soemthing that will fill a somewhat sporty role, and a working role.
this is why i was thinking the wolverine would be a good candidate. i hear its very sporty for a utility quad, and its pretty fast for a ut to. and it being a 4x4 is definetly a step in the right direction for me.so what do u guys think, what have u heard or experienced with these quads? i ride a mix of mud bogs, rocks, smooth fast gravel trails, hills, and the occasional back yard work. is this pretty much the quad for me? any insight on this? thanx guys (and gals)

The Wolverine is a good all around machine. The only problem I have is the gearing. It is a little to high to pull anything over 25's. The power is great with stock tires but just like anything else, go bigger need power. If you buy one, I recommend the Warn 424 unlocker which will allow you to choose between 2 and 4 wheel drive. There is also alot of aftermarket parts to make it what YOU want!

It is a great all around quad,I got mine new in 95, and have loved it ever since. I hang with the sports on the trails, they are suprised that I can slide the corners and keep up !! In the winter,it's always "you go first and break a trail for us", or "grab the rope and pull me !!" Sure, a long straight away they will pull away, but in the woods, I do great. last year I rebuilt a very tired motor (thousands of hard trail and dune miles) and now pull 25 inch tires like the stockers, and leave my son's 300ex in the dust on the straight runs !! I work mine at home around the yard, pull logs, haul a sprayer, and in the fall, drag deer from the woods, drag the trails to smooth them out, etc. There are plenty of more powerful work quads out there, but few can match the light weight and the spunky performance offered by the Wolverine. As soon as the Warn 424 kit is available for the older Wolverines, I am putting that in, 2wd powerslides -- wooohoooo !!!!

We don't all have money to burn, Murph, that's why the Wolverine is a great choice, like you said,it is a compromise, but does very well on both ends. I can't afford 2 quads just for me, that's why I drive a Wolverine, and my son has his sporty one. That's why I rebuilt the motor on mine, WAY cheaper than a new quad, and now mine is even better than before.

I couldn't have said it better myself 95wolv, I have never been left behind on the fast trails or the rock piles. I have friends that have a 500AC and a 02 Grizzley and they just bought two new sport bikes. All of their quads are great but I can keep up with any of them with no problem. Its one quad that can do it all.
