Default which idea do you think is better

I just ordered an exhaust system and a jet kit and am thinking about modding the airfilter when I put it on, but i wont be buying a proflow kit for a while. So this is what I am thinking,
1. I could just take the airbox lid off and then put two bolts through the top of the airfilter with locknuts too keep it in place.
2. Or I could take off the snorkle.
3. I could cut the lid off at the first clip so it still hold the filter on.

Also if I do any of these what do I do with the breather hose attached to the snorkle?
So give me your opinion on which idea would work better for me.

What you can do is look at dynojet.com and under the warrior jet kit diagram it shows u what u need for a stage 2 jet which is to mod your airbox and it has a pic of how they cut it and still is able to hold the filter in place.

I'd put the bolts through the top of the filter myself. Also grease the gasket on the filter before you bolt it up to help seal it better. Many have done it this way to save the $139

Do i have to use any certain type of grease or just the oil that I use for the air filter?

Your local dealer will have some air filter grease. I believe its even called that. Other types of grease will work but I'm sure there are some not to use but I don't know the kinds.

You can get a little filter for it from Autozone or other auto parts stores. Might need an adapter to connect it to the hose though. Or you can go to your dealer and order the K&N crank case breather filter they sell. Look at this picture on Albas website. The little red filter is what you want. If you get it from an auto parts store it will be similar looking but you'll need something to attach it to the hose like a piece of plastic tube.
