How to get lowend torque on a 300EX?
I finally got my first quad. I have a 2002 300EX. The only thing I've done to it is a K&N filter and 20x11x9 holeshots. I mainly trail ride, but about a month ago a buddy of mine got me into motocross. The problem I'm having is low to mid range torque. 300's are not the fastest quad but where i ride has tight corners that go to uphill jumps. I need more power between 2nd and 3rd gear. And I really don't want to spend alot of money.

Thanks for the reply. I got a jetkit when I bought the filter. I haven't changed the jetting cuz I haven't decided if I want to spend the money on a pipe yet.Don't want to do the same thing twice if I don't have to. most of the places I ride are by houses so I'd like to keep it on the quiet side. Keeps the neighbors from complaining. I've also thought about changing the gearing. But I have no idea whether to change the front or rear sprocket?

I know you said you don't want to spend alot of money, but a pipe with a headpipe will only cost you alittle over $200. I had a 300 ex before i got my raptor and I had a fmf megamax muffler with headpipe and a uni filter on it, and jetted and it had alot of bottom end to mid. I even went up a tooth on the counter sprocket because first gear wound out so fast. I'll tell you something you will never be dissapointed when adding an aftermarket pipe and jetting it, it really wakes it up. It will come up on throttle alot quicker then stock.
