New Recall on XP (Nov 6th)
#21
Mines going back in for the rear axels and 2 more front ball joints. I wish they would of replaced all 4 of them after the first one broke. I hate to say it but i'm glad i'm not the only one with this problem. I was starting to wonder if i was just riding it to hard. LOL
Good luck guys and keep an eye on those joints!

After reading this thread I emailed Polaris to ask if there were any recalls on my 850 XP. Mine was made in May of 09. They got right back to me showing a crank case breather valve replacement and front suspension recalls. Polaris says to bring it in to see which ball joints need to be replaced. My dealer said he would just order all the ball joints, call me when they were in and replace all of them so I wouldn't have to come back if any of the others acted up later. After I got the recall I went out to the shop, jacked up the quad and found 2 of them just slightly loose at 100 miles.

Yeah..it does seem you don't hear of many problems with the ones made in 08,except the axle issue maybe, have heard of a few of those.
Mine was made in Sept 08 IIRC,one of the 1st ones, not one issue in 70 hours/400 miles of riding it pretty hard(not alot but mre than some people are getting out of the later runs without issues). Well except for the belt exhaust snorkel liked slip off at the belt housing end.....the tranny housing should have had a little lip molded into it to keep the coupling from slipping off...I recitifed that.
It almost seems like maybe 1st run machines must have been built just like the testers that they reportably put so many miles on...after that lowest bidding vendors? lol
