Default problems with wiring a Superwinch LT3000 on my 2012 sportsman 500 : (

wasted all day today trying to install a lt3000 superwinch on my new 2012 sportsman 500 ho. i have the wiring done just like in the superwinch manual wiring diagram but i keep blowing the 20 fuses when i turn on the quad. the circuit breaker with the kit came with red wires attached already on either side. the only thing that i can think of is i had taken out one of the red wires that was originally connected to one side of the circuit breaker (from the batt side of the cb) and instead attached the circuit breaker straight to the polaris prewired red wiring from the battery. does that one wire make a difference? could also be the orange and white ignition wire (female connector) that the handlebar rocker switch is supposed to connect to via the the red wire, i just spliced the red wire and put it in the orange and white with duct tape . do i need to get a male connector part or something? i thought the spliced wires connected to the female part would still work. please help

yes that is the diagram straight out of the manual and that is how i have it wired. only difference is like i noted above the kit's circuit breaker came with red wires on each side of it so i took the one wire out on the battery side and connected the circuit breaker straight to the polaris prewiring from the battery, maybe thats what is causing the blown fuse?the lack of that extra wire?

I doubt its the Polaris wireing. it could be your contractor that's causeing the issue or possible there is a wire in the wrong spot making a short.

id get a volt meter and put it to the diode test and find the short. theres something causeing the issue it also could be the handle switch. but if its popin the 20amp circuit breaker its in the main power and ground wires.....

I bet the circuit breaker is grounding out somewhere on the frame. Both metal bars and the metal covering and the bolts are all energized with + electricity at all times. If it is touching ANY metal anywhere on the bike it will cause a short. You must mount it directly to only plastic or find some type of non-metallic box to mount it in (like the rear "glove" box).
