Default 1996 lt 80 hard to start

Ok, if things weren't bad enough with my quad (having the cyl bored and honed) my sons LT 80 has become almost impossible to start. It has 120 psi compression and a carb rebuild kit. Spark is nice and blue but you have to crank and crank and crank that thing.....and finally after feathering the throttle it will start and run great. As long as its been running you can cut it off and start it with the throttle fairly easily........Any ideas??

Sounds like the cylinder is flooding with fuel while sitting, common problem with these bikes. Buy an inline fuel shut-off, put between petcock and carb, shut off after use and run bike about thirty seconds to empty most fuel out of bowl or till empty if its put up for long period of time. U can buy one at advanced or autozone in mower section. Hope this helps. I have one on all four of mine, two of mine had same problem put on other two cause it is inevitable that it would happen to the other two.

The non factory petcock will do the same but it takes longer to run the carb out of fuel.
If you shut that off that is...

Ok, the cheap shut off seems to help some!! I have to fight it less than I once did. I wonder if getting 93 octane or maybe stepping up to a hotter plug and maybe ignition coil would help? What do you guys think? Any other ideas????

It appears to be. Even if I choke it by hand I have the same issue.

I had the carb and reeds out a couple of weeks ago checking it. At that time the reeds were good. I van check them again. Anything could have happened or been over looked
