Yamoto 150cc Review

The 150 will do OK in dunes with good tires, and a light kid. No way with an adult or heavier kid, you just need more power to do sand.
I have heard that the 250 water cooled they have does OK in sand, just not great. No personal experience on that.

We took the Yamoto 150 out to carnegie today. Just thought I would add to my review. Well the wife started her ride while I was out on the mx track and forgot to release the parking brake. She came back and was complaining about low power. Noticed the caliper was smoking and found the power problem. The brake was dead from that point on. When we got home I took the caliper apart and all the rubber seal's in the caliper were fried from the heat. I have e-mailed yamoto to check on part's availability. Hoping for a seal kit. Will let you know. The quad besides the brake murder was once again flawless. The wife rode it for about 3 hr's and is more in love with it than before. She has no complaints at all. I was following her around a little and the suspension seem's to soak up most low speed hit's very well. She ride's at about 1/2 throttle most of the time. I am still very impressed with this quad and feel it was a great buy for the money. When I think about what dirtforashirt has done to his I am even more confident. Any updates dirtforashirt??? What else have you broken???Is it still alive??? And Quadduck I agree with cheapass, with a light rider the 150 will do OK in the sand. I have wondered if it would pull paddles. Any one try paddle's on the 150 yet??

Hey guys... betcha thought I killed myself eh? Anyways, I've been tied up and haven't had a chance to check the forums lately plus my quad is buried in the back of my garage under boxes since we just moved to a new house. It's not running atm since I flipped it. I bent the handlebars and can't start the quad because the start/headlights switch assembly got smashed to hell. Anyways, soon as I convince the wifey to throw all of her garbage outta my garage I'll get it back up and running again. Cya guys then.

I bought one of these quads off ebay after reading dirtforashirt's review. This is a awsome quad for the money, I havent had any problems with the quad after two months of riding. I've done some mods to it to make it better, first was the front suspension, the shocks that came on it sucked. solution: a pair of suzuki LT160 front shocks, these shocks are a direct replacement for the little stock shocks and the give you about a inch more travel in the front. not to mention they look way better. I bought the suzuki LT160 shocks off ebay for 9 bucks plus shipping. Second, the quad is two narrow, makes it hard to make high speed turns. the solution for that was to buy some 5" axel extenders off ebay for the Honda TRX 400/300/250 quads. this was the best mod, it really helped with the stability. also it made it look real mean from the back side.

There are two other 150cc quads on ebay that look similar to the Yamoto. They are called Phantom and Factor. The specs look pretty much the same as the Yamoto. Does anyone know if they are the same? If not has anyone purchased one of them?

does anyone have the 250cc commando? if so, whats your thoughts?
also, does it have a restrictor plate in the air breather element like the 150 does?
the 250cc commando is the same one you can get at pep boys.
