That sounds like a plan, can you get me the part number off the NGK?

I had a blast on my GY this weekend. I trailered it up to an airsoft event where I was a referree. Got the chance to ride the bike for the first time offroad. Except for fording streams, I rode on every type of terrain. Most fun was quarry rock gravelled roads (rocks the size of your fist) which were an adventure. Through it all, the little bike performed well. It pulled me up steep grades, and over small logs in the dense pine forests. I was able to handle pretty much anything on the bike, and was proud of myself considering I am a complete novice (been riding one month total). We came out without a scratch. Several members of my team also rode the bike and were impressed.

Anyone got a good source for the 40-42 tooth rear sprocket??

My bike shop ordered mine for me, 42 tooth, he told me when he found it that he could get me down to a 38 tooth sprocket. He told me it was the same bolt patteren as a '73 Honda CB something.......

If you have your local bike shop check into the bolt patterns of those Honda's, I'm sure they can find the same one mine did. I think it cost me like 25 bucks or so. Best thing to do is to take it to your local shop, and let them measure it and then they can order the one that is the same off the 73 honda.

I wouldnt suggest going through sprocket specialists, they told me when i called them, i would need to send them my sprocket and then they could make whatever size I wanted. Well thats fine if I have no desire to ride the bike for 2 to 4 weeks. But, that is another option, they are on the web, Sprocket Specialsist.com. I think that Raceway ATV's may be able to get you sprockets too, I dont know for sure, when i tried them, their site was messed up, they finally replied to me, but by that time I already had my new one.

I am also interested in that NGK spark plug number, I would like to get one also. Mine starts and runs cold, seems like it needs a hotter plug in it.

RAMS fan!

Anybody that is thinking about putting on a new rear sprocket for their GY200: This is exactly the information you will need!

(This isn't an advertisement for Sprocket Specialits, I'm just telling people what part number people will need for their GY200. I don't work for them either.)

http://www.sprocketspecialists.com has a sprocket that will fit the GY200, but you won't find it under the Yamoto manufacturer name. The right sprocket that will fit is the same as a 1979 to 1983 Honda XL 185. The correct sprocket part number is 405 (aluminum) or 405s (steel). They don't keep many of the steel sprockets in stock, so you will probably have to order the 405, which is alluminum.

http://www.sprocketspecialists.com manufactures their aluminum sprockets to order, so you will be able to specify how many teeth you want. Personally, I ordered sprocket part number 405-38, which has 38 teeth. I gained an extra 10 mph top speed with very little sacrifice of torque. I wouldn't recommend ordering much less than a 38 tooth sprocket because these motorcycles are not built for high speeds. Driving a GY200 any faster than about 65 mph is extremly dangerous because the frame is so light and cross winds can blow you off the road.

I hope this information is useful to somebody because I know that it would have been exactly what I needed if I was still trying to find a rear sprocket that fits.

Good luck guys!

Hey guys,

Here is a way to greatly improve the air flow from your engine without having to buy a new tail pipe...You can drill out the back of the stock tail pipe to take out the restrictor...I got the idea from an episode of American Chopper where they modified their scooters.

Here's how to greatly unrestrict the stock tail pipe:

1. You will need a power drill with a titanium drill bit (titanium is strong enough to cut good through metal, steel isn't)
2. Start drilling holes around the outer edge of the inside of the tail pipe hole
3. You are trying to cut loose the little round restrictor tube in the middle
4. Once you have holes drilled all around the tail pipe, you can start drilling again between the holes until you have a smooth round hole
5. After the circle is complete, you will feel the restrictor come off
6. Remove the restrictor
7. Use the edge of the drill bit to smooth out the edges of the hole you just drilled to make it look nice

Now you're done. Just by reducing the air restriction on the stock tail pipe you will see about an 8 mph increase in top speed plus a vast increase in power. I believe that the stock tail pipe is still a little bit air restrictive even with this modification, but its a vast improvement. Plus, you don't have to spend any money!

BTW, I now hit 70 mph on flat ground with my unrestricted tail pipe and a 38 tooth sprocket. I also weigh 275 lbs. I could just imagine how fast my GY200 would go if I wasn't so heavy!

Hi guys. I finally got mine upacked on Sunday night. No instructions but it went ok considering my no-brother-good-inlaw is mechanically inclined (I'm not..). Here's a few pics:

I'm pretty impressed with the bike. It's of a much better quality than I thought it would be. The only damage or bad things is what the shipping compnay did by putting it on it's side and piling stuff on top of it. It runs good....just like a new honda engine. Everyone should have the experience of unpacking a new bike. It's fun! I'll post more later. Mike C.

By the way...I left most of the plastic off till I got the engine tuned up right. I'm not leaving it Mad Max style.

Carp,
Nice pics. Wondering what price range your bike was??? I've documented some of my experience with my new GY200 (jetmoto brand) here...

http://www.thumpertalk.com/forum/sho...f8155&t=301199

I'll try to add some pics this weekend. As I look at your pics, I love the bike. The reason i wanted to know your approx price range is because I see things on the JetMoto that are a nice quality touch that I haven't seen on the other brands. I.E. Rear disk breaks, front forks, instrument cluster, even down to the passenger foot pegs and extensions are nice additions to this package. My price was under $1200 delivered. And no, I'm not a sales rep, just extremely impressed in what I got for 1/4 the price of the Yamaha TT 225 which is what I was thinking about buying. Not that I would, but I could get me four of these for the price of the Yammy and still have money to spare. As I said in my other forum above, it blows my mind how they can manufacture, import, ship and sell these bikes for this price and still make a profit. Amazing!

65 miles so far, everything is smooth and tight. Gonna do an oil change on Saturday. Keep an eye on my other thread if interested in my ongoing experience.

thanks,
-eric

Hi. I was watching your stuff on Thumpertalk as well. I was thinking about the Jetmoto but I couldn't find any decent pics of what it looked like so I went with one of the bikes that I was resonably sure I knew about. I think mine is probably the bargain basement model (rear drum and single metric gauge). I'm pretty happy with it though. I gave 725 plus 300 shipping. (I'm hoping I'm not offending our hosts here by putting the price in here). I have the passenger pegs but I needed to spot weld the cap back on one so I took the other one off till they're fixed. I'd like to find someone who sells extra plastic though. Some of mine was damaged during shipping and I'd like a replacment panel or two.

I haven't riden it much but it sure does start and run well once it's adjusted. Thanks for the posts, Mike
