Default Yamoto 150 carburetor

Oyvind - That is the problem I had and I used an awl to put a hole in the cap. The Yamoto has worked well ever since. It even made it through a five hour session at the Badlands in Indiana. My wife is happy with her Yamoto. I am going to start making some suspension changes and then she will be very happy. The Yamoto was pretty harsh to ride at the Badlands.

Hi.
Yes that is fine, also we have rejetted the carb with a 125 main jet and take of the middle plate in the airbox also a new silencer, that makes the bike more quicker but topspeed is no difference. it does 40mph. but we are wondering on the CVT drive system, i have measured on the variator and found that i can take of close to 1 inch on the "collar" is that right name on it. but maybe that makes it go forward on start idle, i will do that next week and see if the drive belt can go higher and make the speed higher.

My son has been disappointed more than once from his yamoto 150. I too took the carb aprt and cleaned it. I had to use starting fluid to get it started but it died right away. later that day I found your message. I disconnected the electric choke and wala it fired up. I have not had any problems yet. thank you for posting the info it was greatly appreciated. I was going to spend 90.00 on a new carb. Thanks again drzrider!

I own a semi-automatic 150cc, only had problems starting it after i havent used it for over a month, battery dies very fast... in such case i just have somebody push me a little (or go downhill) and shift to 1st gear, starts no prob...well the only problem I have that worries me the most is a weird sound starts coming out (like a grinding high pitch sound) and slow down my quad a little when i reach max speed... no idea whats wrong, my friend suggested that it might be the transmission, but due to my lack of mechanical knowledge/skills i dont really have a clue... but i have no other problems with it... recently i tried a different type of gas - filled it up with super instead of the unleaded (regular), it ran so much better, and if i slowly reach the max speed, the sound i talked about earlier doesnt come up... unless i "floor it" then it starts again, so i have to shift down to 2nd gear, then shift back to 3rd and start out slowly... the last time i took it for a ride, my OFF -> RUN switch somehow broke when i turned it off (i was like in the middle of nowhere at the moment), so I had to unplug the wires, and wire the switch manually myself... i will leave it this way and just remove the RUN switch, so all i need to do is turn the key and start the ignition, doesnt really bother me as long as i learn something about mechanics out of this whole thing lol...

Well other than that, the more I ride it the more Im starting to like it ^_^

p.s. if anyone knows what i should do about that max-speed weird sound, post please, thanks.

thanks, yeah the oil is fine... now im just looking for pages that would sell parts for Yamoto ATVs, and I'd like to change the suspension... also the bearing of one of my tires was messed up so i gotta get another one of those... anyone know where i could go for the bearing? i've visited a few sites that sell the yamoto, redcat, baja, bms, jackel (most of these are very similar if not the same) parts but couldnt find the bearing...

SkorpioLT,

Raceway will sell the bearings you need.

The bearings should be 6003-2rs which measures out to 17mm X 35mm X 10mm.

I bought my bearings from ebay. Here is a link. This is an example of the bearings I purchased.

Good luck.

SB.

yep, thanks smb05 got em...

now for the suspension... i checked out the Baja 150 ATV at one of the stores near me and the factory suspension that came with the quad was very soft and i liked it alot.. it should fit my quad im just not too sure what im suppose to be lookin for... I guess ill go with the Baja 150 ones....

oh and yea i was also wondering if it would be possible to change the throttle on the ATV to the one that is used on dirtbikes - you just turn the handle to accelerate i think that would be so much better...

Hey everyone,
I know this is very outdated but, I have a yamoto 150 and am having some of the same problems mentioned on this thread. I checked the fuel tank and that seems fine. I tried disconnecting the electric choke, tried meaning I am not sure I located it. Any help with the location and how to disconnect would be great. I am not very mechanically inclined. One last thing, it seems to be a carb problem, or so I have been told. Where can I buy a replacement online? I am in the US Air Force and am stationed in England and the price on the economy is outrageous. Thanks for any help.
