Default 150cc atv clutch slipping

I have a Chinese 150cc ATV with automatic trans, no reverse. The problem I'm having is it is slow to take off and has very little torque/ power to climb hills. I was going to change out the clutch springs and when I opened the crankcase I found no CVT clutch, no belt, no variator. There is an assembly mounted on the driveshaft that engages gears directly. Is that a clutch? Do they make GY6 engines with no CVT and how can I get more torque or power from one?

Welcome to the forum dsherman!

I got no clue.. can you post some pics of the engine? You will need to post them in your pic page until you get 20 posts.. or make 20 useless posts so you can poat them in a thread.
