is your gas tank cap vented? it may be trying to pull a vacuum on the tank and thus reach a state of equilibrium and fuel will stop flowing.

i couldn't find a pic of your quad. so not knowing, i'm gonna have to guess. you'll either have a shifter stick below the right handlebar, like a polaris automatic, or you'll have a shifting handle on the right side of the quad near your right calf muscle on the gearbox, OR, on the left side of the gearbox near your left calf muscle, OR, it'll be a foot shifter on the left side below the engine/gearbox like a motorcycle. that's all i can think of.

not too sure......BUT, i think it's gonna be a footshifter on the left, possibly a one down four up pattern. when in neutral, the right side has a lever, that may be the reverse for when the footshifter is in Neutral. . i'm sorry i'm having to guess. it seems logical based on your pics. dang i wish you were closer, i'd just come over and help you out.

You have a GY6 style engine.. no reverse on the engine that I can see. it may have a reverse in the rear end(pics didnt show it)

With no reverse its totally automatic...when you give it gas it will go forward..

as for the running problem.. I think your carb needs a good cleaning..
