No spark! Please help!

Take your time. You're being very helpful with all this, that's all i care about
.
I had bought i key switch recently but never thought to actually hook it up. Blonde moment much? lol After reading your replay i searched and found it in a box shoved in the corner of my shop.
I didn't buy the quad brand new. I bought it used for $50, whoop whoop! So of course it was beat to crap. No plastic, no seat, no headlight, no brake light and the wiring harness was all messed up. So yes, that is exactly what i'm telling you lol. It may have had that stuff on when the previous owners had it but when i got it, it was pretty bare. The only brake this thing has is a foot brake, there are no connectors or anything that i can see that go to a brake switch. I'm not at all sure if there is actually a brake switch that goes on it? You seem to know just about everything, so i will definitely be looking for something online for this.
I will hook the Ignition Switch into the harness and also look online for a brake switch or can i make my own?
I do NOT want to wire the starter button to work without the ignition switch or the brake switch.
Thanks again!

[Again I have never seen a meerkat, nor have a seen a official meerkat wiring diagram, but I've never seen a stock quad without a safety interlock, and the brake interlock is almost universal. The foot brake is usually tied to a brake switch via a spring. One end of the spring hooks into the foot brake arm, and the other end goes up to a switch that can be mounted up on the frame 4 or 6 inches away. The switch is usually adjustable with a jam nut type arangement. The spring is there to keep the tremendously torque amplified foot switch travel from pulling the switch apart if it is misadjusted to be too tight. The spring gives (stretches) instead of breaking the switch into pieces] You seem to know just about everything, so i will definitely be looking for something online for this.

Below are the two common ways of wiring starter motor interlock circuitry:

Starter motor plan "B" is more common in the smaller quads because it is easier to wire in a remote start/stop module. Note the only difference is whether the start button provides the ground for the starter solenoid actutaing coil, or is in the chain of devices feeding the starter solenoid actuating coil. If you need more detailed explanation just ask. I could go on and on and on...

Sorry that it's been awhile since i've updated.
I got the starter button working!
Connected the ignition switch into the harness. Turned the key to on, crossed my fingers and it started cranking
Still no fire though. Not sure where to start with that. Valves? Carb? I have absolutely no idea lol.
Thanks for all your help so far.

Now we're getting out of my field of expertise. Perhaps others can comment.
I assume you're still getting spark as well as having the start button working. If it were me I would adjust the valves first, then crank the starter for 15 seconds and remove the plug to see if it is dry or wet with fuel. If it is dry dribble in a half teaspoon of gas in through spark plug hole and quickly reinstall the plug. If it fires briefly when you crank then you've got a fuel problem. If not then check the compression.

i concur with Lynn on his statement above. BUT, one thing you can do CONSERVATIVELY
, is crank the engine and spray a short shot of ether/starter fluid into the carb/intake/air filter and see if it fires up. if it does, you have a fuel delivery problem. BUT i'm like Lynn, we're presuming you still have spark because one of your last statements was "still no fire though". it's like this: what does "won't start" mean? it means either the starter doesn't turn over/crank or the engine won't start up and idle/run. so please be specific on the information you give us. thanks.
