Default Need Wiring Help

Ok so I have this little 90cc atv chinese made for awhile now and the starter button never worked.. well ok it worked once then never again after that...

does someone have a diagram for a 5pin CDI that has yellow - yellow - Green - Red

the only one I found for 5pin had W-Y-R-G I don't have a white wire going into rec/reg

Well I'm confused...

You're asking about a 5 pin CDI, then list only four wires - none of which correspond to standard colors for a CDI.

Then you said you had another diagram for a 5 pin (CDI) with only four wires (again), coupled with something about a white wire to the regulator/rectifier...

Are you talking only about the rectifier/regulator? Perhaps the "CDI" reference is a typo?

But your problem is that the starter doesn't turn with the start button, right? This has absolutely nothing to do with the CDI or the rectifier/regulator. See why I'm confused?

How are you starting your quad now?

Turn the ignition switch on, apply the brakes, and look at the brake light. Is it lit up?

Have you tried jumping across the starter solenoid? Does the starter turn then?

wow ya reading that i can see why you would be confused.. lemme try again.

ok so I do have the issue of the starter not working however turning the igintion isn't an option this quad was messed up when I got it so we had to by pass that - igition always on I believe is what he did just clamped the two together.. kill swith works lights are not hooked up..

right now we start it by jumping the solinoid - and have been running like that for awhile now. have some hoildays so I wanted to get it running right.

now the reference to the reg/rec is that it fell off the bike so I ordered a new one but the plugin for it was broke so now I have two yellow's a Green and a red that are suppose to go into reg/rec but I can't figure out what goes where into the reg/rec

so at this point the quad boots up with jumping it - and shuts off fine with the kill switch - battery not charging obviously cause the reg/rec not there.

Sometimes that info helps - sometimes it doesn't. There are only four pins on your regulator? Can you post a link showing/describing the regulator that you bought? ]

Fixing the regulator is the first thing I would do, then tackle the ignition switch issues. The latter will be easier to solve I expect.

Take the regulator harness connector and use a meter to measure the resistance of each yellow wire to ground. Use a low scale like 20 ohms. What do you measure? Then measure the resistance from the yellow wire to the yellow wire. What do you measure? I'm trying to determine which stator topology you have, and with the regulator link your going to post determine whether the regulator is compatible.
