Thank you for your response. I'm sorry but I'm not 100% following what your saying. Not sure exactly what you are saying I should do to check it. Please explain if you don't mind. Thanks so much

That kill switch pin you have taken out of the CDI is, as the name suggests, connected to the kill switch and the ignition switch, so if you take it out, the CDI is no longer connected to the kill and ignition switch. You need to find out why the wire to that pin is shorted to earth. Connect an ohm meter between that disconnected wire and earth "if it is earth to kill, should be earthed with kill switch in kill position and/or with ignition switch in off position, but with these switches both in run position, kill wire should notbe earthed."
