The forward gear works and the shifter will go to the reverse position but when given gas, there is no pull. Any suggestions?

follow the shifting mechanism down to the gearbox and see if there's any adjustment linkage on there. if not, watch the mechanism stroke to reverse and listen/feel it. hopefully you don't have an internal issue. you may try disconnecting the mechanism and using a wrench or your hand and see if you can put it in reverse that a way.

 

Thanks for the reply. It has a CVT. The shifter is not slipping on the shaft. I can also feel the three positions as I move the shifter.

wow,,,,so you can feel the 3 positions of the shifter and all looks normal? if so, it may be inside of the shifting cluster. I'll PM you something.
