excessive cylinder heat 110cc
#1
I have had 8 or 10 of these over time, I have one that gets very hot on the cylinder and head area in about 5 minutes you can't touch it. Valve problem?, cdi timing problem? I just picked this one up only 2 years old and its on a go-cart that had blown the clutch. thanks

Oil circulation problem maybe?possibly passages/screen clogged by clutch debris? Could also be timing.. or jetted real lean. Is the engine mounted behind the seat? or out in the open?

cleaned oil screen when replaced clutch and some debris that was in there. I have put a new carb on it and the old one it seem to do the same, i thought lean also but the plug is black. It is behind the seat but this is at idle it will get that hot. Im going to try and check the timing with a timing light tonight. It also idles funny sometime being good then it drops real low for a min and then it pick back up. i sprayed for intake leaks but found nothing. Thanks

I still have 4 of these and after 5 minutes of idle and small rpm rev there just warm, this one is hot too touch. First one I've seen like this. I'll dig deeper just seeing if any one had heard of this.

It will be interesting to see what you find. Weird deal for sure.. probably something simple. Wish I could be more help.

Problem solved, tore it down over the weekend checked cylinder and rings and seen some gaulding on the piston so that leads to believe its ran low on oil or oil pump and i wasn't seeing any oil on the valves with the cover off while running. Removed the side cover and clutch and the oil filter screen was stop up with a lint looking material and oil pump gasket was broken in two spot. All cleaned new gaskets and new piston and rings she fired right up and head temp and a vibration in motor went way down. Thanks for the inputs, great forum

Was that more stuff in the same screen? or a different screen?
