Default Losing power at increased speeds

Recently got two Taotao 125f for my kids. They run great... Except that they lose a power in 3rd gear. When I downshift to second or first, it usually stalls out. This happens on hills and flat areas. My kids are about 100 lbs. thanks for any help.

There is a huge jump from 2nd to 3rd gear on most of the 90-125cc engines with reverse.. reverse takes the space of the 3rd gear so you actually shift from 2nd to 4th because there is no 3rd gear anymore..

stay in a lower gear. Unless they are topped out on throttle. The trick with manual trans is you always have to keep them in a lower gear than you think you need. The GF had the same issue on her King Quad. She was always running out of power but yet when i rode it it was always fine. Ones i told her to keep it a gear lower that she thought she should be in she was fine.
