No drive to wheels
#1
Hi guys! Just signed up to see if i can get some help with my quad...
First of all i have no idea what make it is, all i know is that its a shaft driven chinese 110cc semi automatic, 3 up + reverse.
When i bought it last week it was a non runner, managed to get it started the other day and i cant get it to move anywhere. When i put it in gear it grabs and if i lift the rear wheels off the ground they spin, as soon as theres weight on the back wheel it stops again. It doesnt cut out or anything just revvs up. I had the right side engine case off and as far as i can see the flywheel looks ok and moves with the rear wheels. The only thing i can think of is the clutch needs replacing but thought id get some other input before i go and buy one
thanks

Could just need adjusting.. take the small cover off the case on the right side of the quad(the right side when sitting on it).. loosen the nut and screw the screw in the screw until it bottoms out.. loosen the screw about 1/4 turn and tighten the nut.

Thanks for the replies
Ive already adjusted the clutch as you have suggested, but with the engine off if it makes a difference.
Im not sure what oil is in it at the moment, ive heard 10w50 or 20w50 is the best for these types of engines with a wet clutch but was thinking if it is the wrong oil id probably have to change the clutch anyway?

Interesting. Never knew how to adjust that. Thanks for this post. Sorry for the hijack, but does this adjust when the clutch grabs?

No need to be sorry mate.. im no expert but i think it makes the semi auto clutch bite at a lower rpm when the centre is screwed clockwise and vice versa

Some say you need a wet clutch oil.. from my experience its a waste of money for these machines.. Ive been using car oil in my Honda and Chinese 4 strokes for about 40 years... no clutch related problems..
I use 10wt-40 in all of mine.
