Default 2021 Linhai 300 4x4

Hello,

New to forum but stumped on new (9miles) Linhai 300 - not even broken in but she’s been sitting now for a good three months (work got in way) - getting ready for hunting/winter and started up fine, just idling in garage when noticed odd smell - wasn’t electrical or fuel, best would be a humid/damp heat smell (?) - but then noticed wisps of white “smoke” coming from front, roughly under handlebar/dash area - then came really rough idle, fearing the worst turned off and started stripping plastic off, smoke seemed
to clear quick so didn’t seem like plastic or
wire smoldering - first view everything appears as new as they day I got, at 9 miles hope so, nothing burnt, checked all wire harnesses, all electrical visually seems ok, but now while it’ll turn over it won’t stay running. Also noticed my fuel cap seems odd, threads not seated and again unless sabotage is at play machines been in my secured garage just sitting for months now - theory - could water/moisture gotten into tank - could the “smoke” have been water vaporizing? And now with water in fuel system it won’t stay running? Oil seems clear and fresh, coolant bright green - if I hadn’t seen the white “smoke” or been sitting on it as the rough idle and then no restart happened other than some dust she’s still practically factory new and no obvious signs anything went South on me. Any ideas welcome, seems like a lot of plastic still to remove

Wire harness electronics where “smoke” seemed to rise from

Angle toward front near radiator

8.2 total miles to be precise
to expose everything so will keep stripping off cowl tomorrow - thanks in advance!

Most likely cause of the white smoke is something dropped onto the exhaust system, which has got hot and vaporised. The lumpy idle could be water or a bit of dirt/swarf from manufacture got into the carb. Check the exhaust for anything stuck to it that shouldn't be and, if it is rideable, use it and see if the fault goes off. If it isn't rideable or the fault stays on, clean the carb out.
