110cc Chinese won’t start. Seller had it running when I bought it
#1
Hello, I purchased a 110cc little Chinese quad for my siblings for Christmas. I picked it up and the seller had it running. I get it home and wiring harness is all kinds of rigged nothing worked. I replaced the whole harness and everything else with a cheap Amazon kit (because it came quick). I installed everything and I have spark. It’s blue and looks pretty good. Electric start is working so are lights. No start. I took valve covers off and exhaust is loose and intake is missing the nut. I take off the head and find the nut. I put everything back together. Worth noting there was not a o ring around the top end oil feed I’m pretty sure there’s supposed to be one. Everything back together with both valves set to .08mm roughly I did it pretty quick. Set timing still no start. Not a pop or anything even on starting fluid. I’ve checked spark a thousand times. Carb is clean. It’s getting gas but no start. Could be low on compression and the seller just drug it around will it started I'm not sure. Also worth noting battery is shot. I’ve been using a jumper pack idk if that would effect spark. I’m trying to get it fixed before Christmas. I purchased a new head because I wasn’t expecting to find the adjuster nut but I also noticed both valves are leaking could be causing low compression. Also one exhaust stud was broken and head cracked while I was drilling it out. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Check compression, seems like the previous owner was a lash up merchant and may well have tweaked it to get it running, starter fluid, oil down the plug hole, or towing, may get a badly worn engine running. Check you got the valve timing right when you put the head back too.

I have not tried compression. After the new head it feels like more than enough. I had taken the cylinder off and it still has great crosshatching and ring gap isn’t crazy big they look within spec. I was thinking of getting a new carb just because the float needle will fall out of place if it sits for more than a day and will just pour gas out.
