Hey folks- I went guttergrabbin and came home with this.
It runs !! Sort of …. Has intermittent spark.
Seat says Sunl.
Cylinder says 107cc.
no shifter
one rear brake lever. No front brakes.
was yellow before pink paint job.
can anyone identify it, or help with vin location ? I looked all over the front end. Nothing.
I’m guessing “SLA110” just from browsing various forums.
Chinese "Honda cub clone" engines use fairly generic ignition systems anyway. Either AC or DC. A black/red wire from stator to CDI indicates AC and a 4 wire CDI means DC, though DC set ups may have more than 4 wires so best to be sure, the "help diagnose stator" sticky in the Chinese engines section helps with identification and fault diagnosis. Do this before buying any new parts, they won't help if all that was wrong is a loose wire.
VINs are usually between the top A arms, any small holes where a VIN plate has been? Those stamped into the frame are bad to find, Yamaha VINs disappear, due to rust, within three years as a rule.
Yes I was planning on doing a full wiring inspection before I spend money…
I noticed all the “complete wiring harness for chinese ATV” don’t have a voltage regulator ?? What am I missing?
There are several varieties of "complete" wiring harnesses. Just the actual harness, one with some switches, and a full set up with stator, though as you note, no regulator, which can be a problem as there are several different types of stator and, if your old one is different to the new, it may require a different regulator and it is sometimes difficult to tell if the system is different. Problem with complete systems is, if you are competent enough to fit one, you could have sorted the existing system out quicker and cheaper, unless an idiot has been hacking it, or there has been a wiring fire.
