Thought I put this out. With all the talk about broken axles I am alittle leary of throwing a set of 27inch ITP 589s on my AC 400. I am thinking of a set of 25 inch ITP 589s to replace the stock tires. Has anyone done that? How have they found it? Worth the money?

I ride mostly snow or in the fall hunting in mossy/looge gravel underneigth stuff. Not a ton of mud, fairly dry here. Stock tire would probably work good here but the extra bite would be nice because I'm often going where there is no trail and through willow patches and need extra grip.

 

I havent heard of things breaking on the 400s. Personally I would buy mudlites, cheaper and lighter. I wouldnt think 26s would hurt you a bit.

 

i am really considering the mudlites havent heard anything bad yet
and plan on increasing height by an inch in front and back to 25 fonts and 26 rears
just dont know if i watn 8 wide or 10 wide in front and 10 or 12 wide in rear

 

Do you have to go with new rims for a size upgrade to the 26 inch mudlites on the 400 AC?

 

naw your stock rims will work.

just the outside diameter changes a little

the inside diameter still needs to be 12 the rim size

 

Might be a dumb question but just so I dont order the wrong tires, the stock 400 tires are 25 x 8-12 front and 25 x 11 - 12 back. That means the rim diameter is 12 inches on both, the outside tire diameter is 25 and the tire width is 8 and 11 respectively? Correct?

So if I go with 26X9- 12 or 25x10-12on the front and 26x12-12 on the back I should be okay for my stock rims?

 

You got it, just about any 12 in tire will fit your rim. 25 = height, 10 = width 12 = rim size.

 

i've got a set of itp589 on my 2002 375 which is the same as the03 400s and they work and ride great got monster grip you like them i went with the stock size front and back you could go 26 with no problems
