Default Anybody Ever Heard Of This?

I have a problem with my rear tires slipping on the rims while in deep mud. This results in dirt getting in the bead and causing leaks. Sometimes I will come out of the mud and the tire is completely off the bead. My dealer suggested drilling small holes in the rims and screwing the rims to the tires. Just wondering what thoughts were on this technique. Has anybody done this or know anyone that has? I'm skeptical and need some advice. Thanks

ive never heard of doing that..... i would rather get a set of bead lock rims rather than doing that..... the tension applied to those tires and rims in mud might screw it up worse. just my $.02

if it didnt work you have a set of messed up rims and 2 shot tires.... those screws would tear the tire up if they didn't hold like they should...... the other thing you could try is getting a tube put in your tire... that might help keep it on the bead... what do you guys think?

buy beadlocks, don't build em', then you can low tire pressure too.

try mounting your tires on the rims using clear rtv silicone adhesive. this will glue the tires to the rim and allow you to run lower pressures.

Screwing the bead to the rim has been done in drag cars for years. But the slicks are desigend to have screws put into the bead. Not sure how the bead of a atv tire would hold up to the screws. Rim screws are avil from summit racing part# sum-g1495 Use them if you do it the threads are made for holding rubber. Also put the inner and outter screws directly across from one another to avoid sidwall probs. (Or just get some beadlock rims)

Ok if you look at my signature you know that I am seriouse about off roading. I have been doing it for over 15 yrs and have literally been in about every kind of mud their is. You dont need beadlocks or screws in the tires. All you need is beadsealer. Break all 4 tires down and get the beads nice and clean on the rims and tires. Then remount all the tires but dont set the beads yet. Take the bead sealer and go around the inside of the rim bead with it. Use lots. Then set the beads and put in the pressure that you want to run. I guarantee this will work. I ran trucks with 500hp and 44in tires. The bead sealer will keep everything out and will keep the tire from spinning. The beadsealer is like tar. Thick black, sticky, goopy stuff. Makes a huge mess but works great and it wont ruin anything. Once the beads are set you can wipe off the access and use goof off or something of that nature to clean any surface that the sealer got on. You can get beadsealer at any automotive store and it only costs about 7 bucks. Dont go ruining your wheels and tires with screws and save the money on beadlocks. Beadlocks are great for rocks but thats about it.
