Default K&N airfilter lakota sport!!!

I have a twin air filter in my quad now and like the way it performs but i hear that the k&n filter really make a difference if your lakota is jetted and has a exhaust. But when i went to order one they said that they stopped making it for the lakota. I was looking in my denniskirk and the mojave and lakota sport part numbers are the same do you think that a mojave k&n filter will work on the lakota. Also does it help out a lot and what is the comparasion to the twin air.

Well yea i did, but i don't know where to order it, i see that you have one can you tell me where i can get one i looked in denniskirk and they had a ton of k&n clamp on and uni clamp on but there was a ton of sizes and stuff and i have no clue what size to order. Also does it help in power wise and is it ok to ride in dusty dry areas. I did some research and know that it's bad to rode in wet conditions but very rarly do i ride when it is wet and i don't go through mud pits either. But today when i was researching on the clamp on someone said that his quad ran good for an hour and then die because he was sucking the hot air from the motor in and it di not work well is that true or he just did not put it on right. If you can tell me would you rather the clamp on or the k&n air filter with the stock air box and everything. How much would it cost and where to get it and is it easy to install on the quad. Thanks rolsmojave3!

you gotta take off the boot that connects the carb to the air box and measure the carb....then measure how far back it can go (i think it's about 4-5inches not sure though since i have a bigger carb) it don't have to be angled it can be if a straight one is not availible. Mine (after re-jetting) was a lot faster and it has a sweet sound now....no i haven't had any problems with it sucking hot air, but that airbox weighes a ton and takes up a lot of space so i had to get rid of it and i was really suprised how much it woke it up i ride through shallow water all the time (stupid cricks are in the way of riding) and spash around in puddles with no problems i also have an outerwears on it so i just wipe it of after riding in dust...it's easy to put on just clamp on to the carb and i'd take it any day over the stock air box...the only hard part is getting the air box out, cause it goes around the shock and every where in bettween..if you get a UNI its about $20 and the K&N is about $40-$54 i think. i got the uni

well i purchased the K&N throught www.rockymountainatc.com. I know they have the lakota one for sure. I also wanted to purchase the uni clamp on, but couldn't find one everywhere I looked. Of couse i found some for othe atv's. But not even my local bike shops carried it. So if anyone knows where i can get one online of maybe even order it by phone, let me know.

Well rolsmojave3 i am planning on putting a new rear shock on my quad so maybe i will do both of these things at the same time since the hardest part is getting the stock air box off the quad because of the shock. Is there any certain size that it has to be the part that connects to the carb. I want the k&n clamp on but if anything i want the one that performs better and is easy to deal with. Also i would have to take off the back plastics and seat right. Where did you get your uni clamp on because i looked in both denniskirk and rockymountainatv and real saw a ton of clamp ons in denniskirk so that wherei think i'll oder it from.

Hey mdyjeepgrl, when did you order your k&n air filterr because a few weeks ago i went to get one and they said they stopped making them. But today i compared part numbers and saw that mojave and lakota part numbers were the same so there is light at the end of the tunnel.

Would i be able to find out what size it is by looking in my manual or does it say it on the carb when i take off the whole stock air box. So what ever size the carb is it will be a little bigger your saying. I don't want to make a mistake so that why i'm asking so many questions thanks for your help.
