Did someone try a pipe on the 700 prairie yet?

What kind? HMF Penland Series
Whats it sound like? Perfect in my opinion. The Kawi v-twin is the best sounding engine in the ATV industry, and the Penland series exhaust enhances that sound very nicely. It is deep, throaty, and although it is louder than stock, it is not too loud. The Penland series exhaust includes a "torque range modifier" and a spark arrester that help quiet it down relative to other HMF exhaust. We bought a sound meter from Radio Shack and actually measured dB levels on some of our ATVs. The Penland Series HMF on my Prairie 700 makes 96 dB at idle, and 112 dB at wide open throttle. To give you something to compare to, my son's YFZ 450 with an HMF full system on it makes 90 dB at idle, and 123 dB at wide open throttle. So 112 dB from the Penland Series HMF is quite a bit quieter than a regular HMF 4-stroke exhaust.
How much did it help? Actual HP increase is modest, at 3 - 4 HP according to HMF. Ease of starting, throttle responsiveness, and the rate at which the engine builds RPMs increased significantly though. I thought it was a reasonable gain for the money.
Was it a pipe and header? Yes, it is a full system that shaves 6 lbs of extra weight off of the Prairie 700.
What are some other good mods? K&N air filter; airbox mods for better air flow; aftermarket CDI or module; and performance oriented clutch springs.
[edit] And if you really want to make your Prairie handle like a dream ... Works struts for the front suspension, and a Works Ultracross rear shock for a V-Force (which will fit a Prairie 700.

HMF is the best in my opinion. I've been seein more and more HMF's out there. I got it on my V-Force, one of my buddies has it on his V-Force. My friend has a P700 and he's got the Procircuit T-4 on it. Sounds awesome but nothin better than duals!!! HMF is a wayy better deal though. Plus, you get to pick out what color you want your muffler!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Try a Super Trapp IDS X2 sounds very much like stock and performance of the HMF. It is a 3 piece from the motor to the exhaust, stainless steel with 12 discs for performance an excellent exhaust.

I run the t-4 exhaust full system on mine and i called pro-circuit and the said no jetting required.
I also like the epi black secondary spring it pulls up really fast off the line and has more grunt.
I also run a k&n air filter with the napa hose mod it helped some to.
My DG5 will be under the christmas tree this year.
Will let you know on that one.

The pipe question on a Prairie has come up many times. I have had HMF tell me (without snickering out loud on the phone) that the pipe will add 5-7 hp.
Some old hands on this forum have stated that a pipe will give very little performance gain on a Prairie. My dealer has a dyno and says the same thing.
