Used Prairie 650, Should I buy it?
#3
Check it out really well. On a recent post ( choke lever broke) on the 3rd page I listed everything I check before I go on a trip. If you look at that and go over the quad and most of those check out ok, it in good shape and has been well cared for. If it is in good shape the price is right. Yes it is a good ATV for pretty much anything.

Make sure that you know the actual mileage on it..and the maintenace records, if possible. I have a used 03 650 Prairie and it had 420 miles on it when bought it for 7500(Canadian), last August. It had racks and bags, windshield, 1500 superwinch, front/rear bars and fender guards with after market chrome wheels and 216"bearclaw tires. That would be about 5700 US dollars, then. I have no problems, but I saw another one of the same year in the shop at the dealers that had 3000 miles on it and it needed every bearing and seal, plus the clutches replaced...lotsa bucks, over 6000 to fix it..and none of those parts were visible without a teardown. A lot depends upon how they get used and maintained.

I looked my 02 P650 up today in the NADA price guide. Just to give you some idea, the low retail was $3480 and average retail was $4580. The '03 P 650 should be $200 - $400 more than my '02 on both numbers.
Sounds like you're getting a pretty good deal if it's been taken care of.

I looked at the 650 today. It was beat on. It was also flipped on pavement, bald tires ,broken plastic etc..... I drove away and went and purchased a Polaris 500 HO Sportsman
