I bought the Sidewinder package of their stainless steel rear, chromoly front and Quadra-Max chain. I also used their chain lube. I got little more than ten hours out of the rear sprocket. What a disappointment. The Quadra-Max chain is nothing more than a Regina Gold chain. I have not found a rear sprocket yet that outlasts the stock OEM.

I've had success with a DID O-ring chain on my Banshee, and agree that the stock sprocket will outlast the lighter aftermarket replacements, although Sidewinder does market their stainless sprocket well.

i haven t noticed hardly any ware its crazy
sidewinder's chains tend to drag a bit but they are hard to brake

Interesting. I ride only in the dunes on the Oregon coast, so getting a chain and set of sprockets to last can be tenuous at best it seems. The Sidewinder Stainless rear sprocket has been by far the best rear sprocket that I have ran. An entire season of riding with very little wear. I do reccommend them.

I have found Regina chains to be the best of any chain that I have ran. Although I have had good luck with a DID ERT non o-ring chain for the last season. It only stretched a tad, almost like that of an o-ring type chain. For a non o-ring I chain that is what I reccommend.

Another interesting tid-bit about the Regina chains. Almost everyone who offers a "Works" type chain--let's say Moose and Sidewinder, they put a Regina chain in thier box and ship it.

 

While we are on the subject, what is an X-ring chain compared to an O-ring?

If you were to look at a cross-sectional profile of an O-ring, it's just that an "O". Whereas an X-ring chain is an X shape from the same profile. It offers better sealing because there is two contact points to seal the lube in.

 

 

I have a one-year old, blue anodized rear Sidewinder sprocket and have no wear on it whatsoever!

I ride in deep sand all the time. Even the anodization has held up better than expected.

Free1steven and Backcountry: could you pleae take at my last question in my thread titled, "Idle (Pilot) Jetting Question..." I am hoping you can help me out since you both are usually "right on the money" when it comes to advice and information. I am still looking for a way to improve my idle adjustment situation.
