Default 04 Prairie 700 not going in 4WD.....

I just wanted to run this by you guys before I take it to the dealer. I just fired it up after being in storage for the winter. It runs great but when I flipped the switch to 4WD the display still reads 2WD. My speedometer is working fine. Everything on the machine looks to be in working order. Any help on what to check would be appreciated.

Did you try moving it up or back a couple of feet to see if engages the 4X4. Have you been changing the front diff. oil? Ride it around and let the oil get hot then try it again. Hope these works. Good luck, Irish

Thanks for the reply. Of course I moved it 5 feet! I was riding the quad all day. Saturday was day two of riding so I am sure the Differential oil was warm. Not that the oil temperature or changing the front Differential oil would stop the engagement of 4WD.
I will take it to the dealer and have them figure it out. I am thinking its the CDI box. We will see, I will post the results next week.

Little while ago had the same thing happen with my KEBC Actuator. I tried running power directly from the battery to the actuator and it would turn then. So then I unpluged the CDI and then repluged it. When I did this It seemed like It reset the actuator cause it worked perfect then. This was almost 200 miles ago and I haven't had a problem with it since so you may want to try this.

Don't get confused between CDI and Control unit. 4WD is controllled by Control unit.

I'm not sure which it is any more. It was a 360 Prairie I did this on and it was a cigerette carton sized black box in front of the battery.

On 360, the CDI is on top of the tool case at rear of the quad. The control unit is under the seat on 360 as other quads normally would have their CDI at. Another difference is that CDI has 2 connectors on 360 (and 3 on twins), and control unit has only 1 connector on all current Kawi quads.
