Do I need a new clutch basket?
#1
My clutch is definetly slipping now and starting to make a good bit of noise. Before I tear into it anyway I can tell if I need the basket?
The clutch themselves are cheap but the basket isn't. Really hoping I don't need to change the basket. Anyway to tell?
BTW this is on a 2002 400ex.

i dont think you'll need a basket. Your plates are probably just worn out. Get new friction plates and springs before you take it apart. After getting it apart, just check the edges of the basket fingers for any grooving, a little bit is ok, just use a dremel tool to smooth them out.

Thanks for the advice. Asked on several forums with no luck.
What would the symptoms of a bad basket be anyways?
I think I will go ahead and order a Tusk clutch with springs from rockymountain. 45$ for both I believe.
