Default Problem with Honda Rancher AT (completely lost)

When it is in automatic it won't come out of first gear and instead of having a "D" on the display it blinks "-- --", but I can thumb through the gears when the ESP is on. It's just the automatic and reverse that doesn't work. When I am in reverse it will go but it is very jumpy. Kind of like I am feathering the throttle. Did my computer board get wet, and can I simply dry it out. Do I need another board? Please advise. Thank You.

It's an 06. I've talked to a few people that say the computer board has gotten wet and that's the problem. I also talked to a guy in the service department where I bought the bike and he said it is probably a sensor on the enging.

lol, its not a computer board, these are 100% sealed computers that are next to unbreakable. My rubicon had the same error yours is showing- its in safe mode. Try pulling your negitive battery cable off for 10 minutes while leaveing your ignition turned on this will pull all power out of the system and clear any codes you may have set when rideing hard. Put it back on and see what happends, if it does the same thing your mechanic is correct and its a simple angle sensor.
