Default 700 SPORTSMAN WATER PUMP LEAK.

HELLO ALL,

I have just purchased a used 2004 700 sporty and on my first ride today i noticed that there was coolant leaking from the weep hole on the waterpump. coming out pretty good actually. and then the check engine hot light came on a little later. is it like a car and means that it needs a new waterpump? i have looked at the parts break down online and it doesn't look like the pump comes in one unit like a vehicle. can someone point me in the right direction as to what i need to fix it? seals maybe? thanks

Sounds like it may just be the o-ring seal behind the water pump cover. Its a plastic black cover I think with a steel reinforcement plate over it. The new ones have an aluminum cover that I think works on most/all twins.
