eton 2003 thunder 90 problems

i have a 2003 eton thunder 90 that is acting up it is very had to start but when i get it going it runs for a little and turns back off what can i do to stop this problem it also gets over heated very quickly

Hows the plug color? A jetting problem?
If compression is fine, it's fuel or electrical.
It sounds like a timing issue, but unless you've messed with that it should be fine. Maybe a bad CDI/coil. A ohm test can check that. Sorry I don't have the ohm specs.

Sound like dirty carb and stopped up jets. Disassemble carb and clean. Make sure
main and pilot jets are not obstructed and you can see through them. E-ton makes a manual choke kit that makes starting a breeze and gets rid of pesky electric choke. I just installed one today on customers old Lightning 50 E-ton. If your not getting proper fuel delivery your engine will be lean and run hot.
