2005 Sportsman 700 Carb (any good?)
#1
I found a 2005 Polaris Sportsman 700 carb with less than 100 miles and was wondering if they are any good? I was planning to buy an EFI but for what I do I really don't know if it is needed. I plan to keep this ATV for at least 10 years and probably won't drive it more than 100 miles per year.
I live in Iowa so altitude is not a problem, and the choke does not bother me in the cold. I am upgrading from a 1998 425 Magnum and never had a problem with it starting even at -15 deg. Going to a 05 700 Sportsman would be a good upgrade, but I wanted to know what others think of the 700 carb atv's since I have not kept up with newer ATV's?
Thank you,
Buddy

One of my friends has a 700 and I think it's an '04 or '05. He likes it so much his YFZ 450 stays in the pole barn most of the time. He broke a bolt on the back of a right rear A-arm and didn't even know it until I pointed it out. No other problems that I'm aware of.

Don,t wory about cold starts,Polaris still makes 2009 snowmobiles with carbs. Who would put carbs on a machine that is only made to run on snow if it could not start. You may have to pull out the choke before you hit the start button sometimes though.
