I have a question for you guys that know a thing or two about clutches... the easiest one is, how do you know when your clutch plates need to be replaced? i have a feeling that my 250X's plates are worn and slipping. I have no idea about clutches so maybe i am way off, but what do you guys think... it feels like my quad slides into gear somtimes instead of hitting it hard... any ideas? thanks

Try adjusting your clutch. It may be out of adjustment and it could cause it to slip.

The manual will tell you the minimum thickness. You have to take out the plates and check them with a micrometer,or caliper.

88' 250R many extras

Take your quad out and run it at about 3/4 speed in 5 or 6 gear. Open the throlle up wide open, If the engine speeds up and the quad does not go any faster the plates are slipping. If the quad speeds up then the plates are good. This only works if the cable is ajusted correctly
