I am seriously considering buying a traxter.Has anyone have any opinions or do you own one.My main concerns are the weight of the machine and the durability of the brakes etc. Any opinions would be a great help to me for making a decision to buy one..Thanks Wobly

I have owned one for a few months now and love it.I was concerned about the weight but you must remember that this is the three quarter ton model of buggies. It is the utility model so if you want a powerfull workhorse then this is the unit for you. They should of called it the traxter stump puller as it has so much pulling power.I love the looks of it.Awsome concept. You can tell they did there homework on this buggy.Have always been a rotax/bombardier fan and waited for this atv to hit the market.I have very little complaints about this unit other than that they should of used a better design for the gear changer. It is a little bit clunky going from gear to gear like reverse to hi or low etc....It sticks a bit and you cant always get it into gear unless you rock it back and forth or go ahead or back a bit,I have read that in time this will loosen up alot other than that this is a bullet-proof futuristic buggy.

I've hade my XT for 6 months now. No problems that was the fault of the machine. Three weeks ago I flipped it end for end coming of a hill doing 40mph. I was lucky I was thrown over the handlebars, otherwise I would have been squashed.
Only damage was cosmetic, rear bumper and rack, and smashed shifter on handlebars. But that was all my own stupidity.

It is a very heavy quad, so don't expect to jump or get the nose of the ground. But you can push, pull and climb with the best of them. I have been
in alot water and mud, as high as the fenders and never had any mechanical problems with brakes or rad. Engine breaking is good, I rarely use my brakes.Acceleration is not that great, tops out about 52-53mph. Shifting was slow at first, but had the shifting reprogrammed and worked great now.

I like the Traxter, a few bugs, but tough as hell.
I would recommend getting the XT, the upgrades are worth it. The winch can be the most important feature when your by yourself, cause your never going to move that weight alone.

Goodluck on your purchase...

Thanks for all your input so far.The funny thing about this request is the bike will be for my wife.I have a honda rancher, and i think the traxter will be too heavy and clunky for her.She has been told by the dealer how easy it steers and she likes the seat with no tank in front of it. Thanks Wobly

I bought my traxter a few months ago. I traded in
an xplorer 400 on it. You mentioned this would be
for your wife. I haven't noticed the extra weight
being a problem. If she likes the tank placement
and the way it steers then i think the extra weight should not be a concern because it has a very low center of gravity and is extremely stabe.
I'm not sure what you mean by clunky. Anyway i really like my traxter but think she should pick what she is most comfortable on. Good luck.

Unless you are bent on getting an XT, I'd get a regular Traccter and modify it to your liking. Thats what I did and am happy with the results. BTW, you can get a better set of 27" tires ( & rims) and a winch for less than the $ diff between the XT and the regular trater.

The weight diff from regular machines and this tank is VERY noticable. If you ride in any mud or snow, you'll see what I mean. The stock tires suck for mudding or snow riding. The front diff works pretyy slick

Wobly, Traxter is great, but better try a few others before the purchase. I like mine and getting a second but I thought the Sportsman and AC500 have nicer rides, but I really liked the seat, front storage, and radiator in the back of traxter.
