08 POLARIS 500ho fuel mileage and my 230 mile ride
#1
well i whent on my atv trip on the north soo line trail. 230.5miles later i was done. i got an avg 21mpg on it. at 40mph. filled up 2 times while driving and once at the end of the trail.
my trip on aug 12 09. well since i couldnt find no one that wanted to go i whent on my own. i started to drive at about 10am. i first seen a doe and a fawn running on the trail. after about 5min of them running in front of me the doe whent to the left and the fawn whent to the right. i stoped and got a pic of the doe. think she was wondering what did you do to my kid!!! then i started to drive again. and ran into a porcupine on the trail. i never seen one before. seen a few more dear just walk across the trail. as for fuel seemed like the town of REAMER was a perfect area for a gas staition. a block away from the trail. i had a full tank when i left starting in moose lake mn. it stated to flash FUEL about 8-10miles before i got to reamer. i filled up there then drove all the way to cass lake and back to reamer. well as luck would have it reamer was the town i had to fill up again. i seen a few old buildings along the way. read a few signs about all the towns that use to be long time ago. the funnest and dumbest part about the trail was comeing back from cass lake. i was vary carefull the whole ride not to get my head taken off by a branch. but on the way back i was looking into the woods and just turned my head back and "BAM" right across my eyes, nose, and forehead. i had a branch hit me. ouch. made my nose blead. well i stoped on the trail to wash it off. wasent to bad. but it swollen today. and hurts. and as i was washing the blood off another atver was passing though. asked if i was ok. and i was. i really didnt see many other atvers. i was planning to see more. i seen a group of 5, when i started. then on the way back the one that asked if i was ok, another rider with him, one guy that passed me while i was reading a sign, then i passed one on the trail. oh and as for the trail condtions. most of it was nice and smooth. could have gone faster. but i didnt want a dear to pop out. there were spots that were alota whoops"waves". i did notice on the areas where all the bumps were the front cargo box latches dont stay hooked. they unlatched a few times going though them.i didnt have much time when i got back to go to play in the soo pits long. was there about a 1/2hr or so. vary nice play area. i did a little bit of playing. i didnt have no issues with the wheeler along the way. it was in the 90s that day. i brought a cell phone and was suprised i had service most of the time. id do it all again. im planing to go on the south soo line fri "tomorrow" i plan to leave from royaltion round 9ish am. and ill go all the way to wisconsion.
i like the trip vary relaxing. seen alota nice areas. fresh air.
