I have a 04 sportsman 500ho, the problem is it shuts off after running for a few seconds with the key on (no cluster display, no lights). I can turn the key off then back on and the same thing happens. Iv been thru all the wiring and all looks good. Any advice?

 

If your charging system is not working your bike has been running off the battery . Now the battery no longer has enough power to keep the machine going . After sitting you might get power for a few seconds but then she'll go dead . Check charging system , check battery , check all battery connections .

 

Will give that a try, battery seams ok but will have it tested

 

Not shure how your H.O is different but I ran mine for a month with a dead battery ,just pull start and go before I got around to getting a new battery.

Does the later carbed H.Os have a ECM like the EFI models and if so did it get the recall done?

 

I had this problem and replaced the battery and it cured it (2004 sportsman 500 ho)
