Default 1996 polaris sportsman 500 help

After 3 long months my mechanic ate about a grand in labor my quad still doesn't run right. The problem is the atv will not go over 30 mph and is real slow to get there. If I pin the throttle in nuetral the wheeler will rev up maybe 60% and then after about 5 secounds it will slowly rev higher to what sounds like 100%. When driving it doesn't seem to get past that 60% point. My mechanic checked all the electical, carb ,cam top end of motor. Tonight i did find that the pipe entering the mufffler was cracked pretty bad so i did tack it back together. My mech also put a new air box in it. I must also say the problem is not constant. Today I was doing 55 mph and I slowed down and turned a corner and the machine started acting up. i have found similar posts on here but noone gives what the problem was. please help thanks frankehvac

Check for worn buttons in the clutches. Cheap parts that will slow you right down. I think the drive clutch has buttons Part#5431936 and the secondary has #5438123 .

Ooops sorry I did not notice its was your post also. LOL

Anyways if you use the seach option on this site like I did, and use "Buttons" as a subject, it seem that that could be your problem.
