Default WARN Winch Kit On A Trailer

I am a long time reader and first time poster and here is my quandary: I have a WARN winch kit 2.5ct Gen 6 Polaris part numbers are: 2874570 and 64891 that I bought for my Magnum and never installed. I want to install it on a trailer and when I hook up the Positive and negative battery cables to my battery the rocker switch will not function. There is a red wire on the switch cable and I am not sure where it goes since it will not go to the wiring harness on my Magnum. Any help would be appreciated.

welcome to posting on the forum. the wire you ar refering too has to be hooked to a power source to make the rocker switch work. on the atv install, you would hook it to a hot wire that is powerd you turn on the key switch. just remember if you hook this wire up to the battery as well as the red cable that the rocker switch will have power all the time.

That makes sence. I will run a wire to my ignition switch on my truck.

sorry, i should mentioned that, but i assumed that he already had that hooked up when he mentioned the power was hooked up "Positive and negative battery cables to my battery" since these are color coded.
